slight leak around prop

Surface Tension

Question

I have a 2001 (low hours) 15hp 2cycle Johnson motor that I store on a stand over the winter. This year I noticed a black ring of oil on the newspaper that i set below the motor. Looks like 10 or 12 drops of oil that came from between the prop and the lower unit.
Any recommendations - is this even a concern? I haven't pulled the prop yet, but plan on doing that. I know fishing line stuck in there can cause problems...but I don't think that's happened.
Thanks for the reply.....

That's a real possibility....I fog it by stalling it out (spraying fogging oil into the air intake as its running) AND putting fogging oil into the cylinders after they cool off. So, the black oil could be exhaust junk from the fogging oil.
Good point - the gear lube looked normal (greenish with that terrible odor!)
