Lakemaster Chip

Iceman12

Question

I recently bought the chip and have a question. I put the chip in but cannot get the lake maps to come up. Do I actually have to be on the lake for the maps to appear or can I pull them up without being on them. I know a dumb question but I am a novice at this GPS thing. Thanks for the help.

When you first turn your gps on you should notice a little flashing image of a chip in the bottom right corner of your screen. That tells you the chip is working properly.Hit pages til you get to the map page. You can scroll with the arrows in the middle to a lake you know has contours then start zooming in.The closer you zoom the more detailed the map becomes.

I see the blinking chip in the corner but when I scroll through the with the pages key I go through 2 screens and none of them to my knowlege is a map. One screen says Track in the upper left, the next says position, and the 3rd says satellites.

Also make sure that you have the most current softeware running in the H2O. I had to get an update from Lowrance when I got my unit. I am not sure which one is the current one but you can look at the Lowrance HSOforum and you should be able to find it there.

I just got it for Christmas a week ago so I would assume it has the most current software. Or should I not assume that? Do you have to transfer data from the chip to your GPS unit? I've been reading the manual all morning and cannot seem to get the maps to come up.

With the Lakemaster Chip you don't need to load anything. Insert the chip in the unit and turn it on. You should see a small chip bling in the lower right hand corner for a second. All the maps load automatically. Hit pages until you come to the one with the background map on it. You can then use your cursor to move around on the map. Follow roads until you get to your favorite lake and from there you can voom in to view the contours. When the GPS is actually at the lake. The lake will automatically be there as it's showing your actual position. Hope this makes some sense laugh.gif

When I hit the pages button all I get is the satellite page and the one that looks like a compass. Is there something wrong with the chip? I see the blinking chip when I turn it on. Is there something in the menu option that I need to turn on?

Iceman.. Try going to the menu page afterthe first screen comes up.scroll down to the easy mode option and enter.Itll ask you easy mode yes or no select no and enter that.then go back to see if it gives you a mapping page on the pages .

LABS4ME, thanks for the offer to iceman12. Fill us in on what the "problem" was. I have a feeling that he was zoomed in so far that "nothing" showed on the map page, or, a combination of "easy mode" and zoomed in too far. Anyway, it appeared to be a "hands on" type of problem and not one readily handled over the internet. Thanks again.

Thanks for the offer of help LABS4ME. Sorry it took so long to get back to you but I took off for an ice fishing adventure up north for a while. A buddy of mine helped me figure out getting to the maps. Man is that unit sweet with the lakemaster chip. I can't wait to get out and try it again this weekend.

Iceman12, I want to second "croixeyes" request that you tell us what your friend did to bring your maps up. Some of us answer rather difficult questions made even more interesting when you're answering without the benefit of actually being able to "see" the "problem" being described.

It may help someone else down the road.
