Anyone fish SW/S Central Lakes?

Recommended Posts

I have never fished it but they say that Dry Lake by Ashley is supose to be pretty good fishing. There are several lake in this area that hold pike as well. But being a walleye guy I have not fished them either.

I was out in Kulm, ND pheasant hunting. The folks we were staying with were ice fishing. They fished Dry lake one day was real slow only some northerns. They went to a smaller lake another day in the area, only caught a few small eyes, and then the last day they were fishing they went up to the resevoir inb Jamestown and the fishing was slow as well. They are from the area and have talked to a lot of their friends and reports are that fishing in general has been slow. Pheasant Lake near Ellendale has lots of open water.Hunting was great lots of pheasants!

There are a lot of prairie lakes south of I-94 between Bismarck and Jamestown that in the past held some very nice perch. With the lack of rainfall and snowpack these little potholes have dried up somewhat and they were also fished very hard about five years ago. Since then I have not heard much happening in that area, but for a while it was hot action and very fun! It wasn't uncommon to catch a limit of 10-14" perch in a short amount of time. I'm sure some of these still hold some perch, but not like it was 4-6 years ago.

I know the twin lakes north of LaMoure have put out some high #'s of Fat perch in the past and Lake LaMoure was hot for 5 lb. walleyes quite a long time ago. Then so was Green lake by Gackle at one time. Here is a place to get ND fishing waters (if admin leaves the link) ND Fishing waters
