What do I need to convert my Boat LMS 332c for Ice Fishing?

I can't remember where I saw it, but I did see the LMS 332c demo'd as a portable unit. What they used was a Genz Blue Box (Vexilar case) and mounted the LMS 332c unit on there. The power source was just a gel pack battery- the same battery a vex or marcum run off.

Then the person velcro'd the GPS puck on the side and it was portable.

Couldn't tell you how to run the depth finder though or what transducer you'd need for it.

You will need to build a box of something to that effect to mount your unit too, and hold your battery. After you have that done you will need these 3 things.

1) Ice ducer Part # 106-94 Approx $70.00

2) Power cable Part # 119-10 Approx $40.00

3) 7 Amp or such battery Approx $16.00

LEI makes a ice pack for the 332. It is PPP-16I. I think it was about $150. It has the soft pack, battery, cables already wired, and ice transducer and transducer holder. I have had it out twice, and can't believe the sensitivity. I found my spots with the gps (puck that came with 332), then messed around with all of the options for screens. I found the split screen graph best option for me. I found it more useful than the flasher mode. I didn't realize how sensitive it was until I dropped my minnow head down the hole when I finished the first time out, and watched it fall as a big blue blob all of the way to the bottom. 14" crappie looks like a huge yellow/yellow-red blob.

I bought my conversion kit for a 332-c from Marine Gen in Duluth at the Ice Show in St Paul. 150$. To use the GPS puck you need to purchase another cord though, unless you can take the one it came with out of the boat. For me, the cord is too deep in the boat to get out and i have a H20 that works well enough.

Oh..USd150 is good. I got mine for USd180 of hsolist after taxes and shipping. Too late for me. In any case, what cable do I need for my GPS puck. It is not mounted permanently on my boat and I think I can easily disconnect it. Is it the cable between the puck and the unit or the power cable from the puck to the battery? Please let me know which one and the part number if possible because I think I need the GPS capability. And BTW, how do you mount the puck into the pack?

Lastly....how do I post photos in the forum?

Thanks!

The cable you need is between the puck and the Unit itself. You cannot plug the pucks cord into the unit because of some networking functions Lowrance has set up.

At the ice show I saw the puck mounted on the pack with velcrow.

TSCTSC, there are three cable inputs to your 332c. The first is the Sonar(transducer). The second is the Network, which is connected to the short one foot cable of the GPS puck via the Y-adapter extension cable. The third is the Power/Data which is connected to the battery.

Though I have not seen the softpack kit that all of you are referring to, I am certain that the included cable is the Power/Data cable that connects to the small 12 volt battery. IF you CANNOT remove the network cable from your boat setup (the Y-adapter cable) then you WILL have to purchase a second Y-adapter cable. This is because the GPS puck for the new Lowrance units, including the 332c, are powered NMEA 2000 Networked pucks that will only function if they are connected as described. IF you CAN remove the Y-adapter cable, then you will not have to purchase any additional cable.

I say this with certainty, because I have my 332c set up for two types of portable use: on the dash of my Tahoe via a small RAM mounting system, and on a Lowrance portable box that I can take on the ice.
