Walterwontfalter
Just got a new auger for Christmas. It's still wrapped and under the tree. I was wondering how everyone else has broken their new augers in and some do's and dont's if anyone has any.
0 tomfromblaine
just use the oil at the ratio the mfg recommends for a couple of tanks. The most important thing IMO is proper warm up time. I give mine a couple of minutes the first time out every time, after that usually just a minute or so. but I would recommend when you first start it let it idle for a while then slowly start moving it through the RPM range leting it run at various RPMs for a bit the shut it down and let it cool and repeat a few differnt times. don't worry about the black stuff drooling out the muffler, it's normal and will go away when you switch to a good synthetic oil, just wipe it off so it don't get on anything. Now if you got a NILS the other guys like Paul W will have the scoop for you as I understand they are a extremely close tolerence engine hope this helps. PS don't lean on it. 0 Walterwontfalter
Thanks tomfromblaine. It seems to be running better each time I run it.
0 tomfromblaine
No sweat man, just got back from LOW for the week that I was there I saw a bunch of people having problems with augers, every brand possible, but the guys that let them warm up a bit had no problems, that minute seems like an eternity when your totally pumped an can't wait to get a rig in the water. have lots a fun with your new toy
0 Walterwontfalter
Just got back from Lake of the Woods last night and my auger ran like gangbusters. Man! that thing cuts fast! Worlds of difference from my old MagIII. I couldn't believe how well it ran and cut. I guess it pays to let them warm up a while before you start cutting. That seemed to be the ticket.
