HOW MUCH

Alright now im getting kind of mad my mom wont let me go ice fishing until somebody tells her or at least she knows how much ice there is i think its alright for me to go out there with just a pole and auger. Does anyone know an estamate on how much ice there is on lake francis in elysian minnesota THANX

I hate to put a damper on your fishing, but there isn;t good solid ice on the east bay, the west bay is better, people are fishing there, walking out. carry a chizel, slam it down ever other step till you get to where you want to fish, then stay on your, and I mean your checked trail. have fun, but be careful.

Did you get that fish mounted????? I will never forget the smile on this lads face after he caught this 9lb 15 oz walleye. I still have a pic. of it in my fishhouse. Hope to see you out this winter. I know its hard to wait. It wont be much longer

Well young fella heres my take on your predicament .I don't live in your area and even if I did I would not go against your moms word unless I was 100% sure of the ice and with ice nobody can give that assurance no matter how thick it is and that includes the 3 ft or more I see here some years .

I have finished off live wolves etc in snares,helped hunt down wounded black bears in the dark ,boxed in in the ring in my youth,been tromped by some big horses and in general fear nothing but dang if I would tangle with a mother looking out for her precious son because thats like taking on a pack of grizzlies with cubs and in reality committing suicide and my momma nor dad raised a fool .

I know its not what you want to hear lad, but its the way things are and I believe not many here have any more nerve than what I have either in the face of a mother looking out for her boy .The ice will be good soon enough for her to trust you out on it and the lads here will let you know to help in assuring her that its thick enough to be low risk .Don't be mad at her .

I agree with Trapperdirk, listen to Mom, the ice is growing, just wait till you are sure it is safe! Do not want to hear about you going thru, also when you do, make sure someone knows when and where you are at, check with the locals and see what they are finding, MOM"S know BEST!
