paw pads?

With the melting of the snow putting a crust of ice on top of it this proves to be very tough on dog's feet, legs, and pads. The ice crystals are like little razor blades. Pretty tough to put anything on their pads without them licking it off unless you cover it. Buy the pooch some neoprene boots or leave him at home.

There are several products out on the market to help protect and condition dogs pads. Some are sprays and some are waxes. They all work VERY well on healing up sores and preventing new ones from happening. We use a wax type product (the name escapes me) on several of our dogs late in the season to help prevent torn pads and prolonging their ability to hunt. We've even gotten through frozen sunflower stubble without tearing pads!!! Talk to your vet or look in the sporting dog section of any major retailer. They should have what you are looking for. Also Foster-Smith should carry it on line.

Good Luck!

Ken
