the days start getting longer! I have caught a fair amount of cats in open water in mid-April, a mere 130 days away. When is the earliest you have caught any in open water? Do the rest of you ever open a bag of stink bait just to smell it in the middle of winter?

Cats on Ice,

Is an event held at the HorseShoe chain. I just posted asking Dennis Steele when it might be this year.

The channels actively take bait under the ice. When they hit they hit. It's like setting the hook on a Toyota. The average seem to be within 2-5lbs, but people have hooked into 10+ fish through the ice. Maybe we can hook up before the event and ice some kitties.

Turning to whiskey isn't quite the same.

Cats pull hard and you take a hard pull on wiskey.

Both are fun though.

Best way to scratch the itch is catch a few through the ice!
