Was leaning towards a Rem 870 till I saw cabelas has the 3.5" X2 for 599.99 after rebate synthetic with 3 chokes. Need some feedback on this gun. pos. & negs. Any info would be great. This is a big purchase and I want to make the right choice. Thanks

i bought one march of 2003 and absolutely love it. 3.5 inch synthetic with 26" barrel. its basically the only 12 guage i own that i even shoot anymore. its my duck gun, pheasant gun, a buckshot howitzer for coyote calling, and with a rifled slug choke (the fully rifled barrels cost an arm and a leg) ive shot 4 deer with it. learn how to take care of the gun and it shouldnt ever fail you. its super easy to tear down and clean. i would pop for the duratouch finish if you can.

This year was the 3rd year I had my SuperX2. The barrel bulged out on me where the bottom of the choke screws into the barrel. I've always used the modified choke. Winchester would not replace the barrel for me and I was told it would cost $400 for a new barrel. Traded the gun in and got a different brand gun to get me through the season. Next year I'll be getting a Browning or Benelli. No more Winchesters for me, sorry to say. Up to the time in which the barrel bulged out, the gun was awesome. However, one bad experience like this drew me away from Winchester.

Just my experience here. Some people love the gun and haven't had any problems, a few have had similar barrel problems as myself.

I love my sx2 it is the only shotgun I use. i shooot small trap loads and 3.5 at geese it is all around good gun it does get a little after a few miles of upland and the duratouch is peeling. but the mechanics have never failed. Great gun the only thing i would do different is by the camo instead of the black it is amazing how much the black stands out from a distance.

I have a friend that used to own one.. He liked the way it shot and everything.. A couple time When it was pretty cold out during the late season goose hunt.. the action on his gun would stick sliding forward and wouldn't shoot the next round.. If you plan on going late season goose hunting or hunting in pretty cold weather make sure you bring a bottle or Rem oil with.. Rem oil works the best because its got teflon in it and stops the action from sticking in the cold weather.. Spray a little in the action after a while and you'll be good for the whole day... The superx is a pretty smooth shooting gun.. I'm curious to see what the superX2 Light is like.. My friend says its lighter than any shotgun he's ever owned.. If I were you I'd check that out too..

I too was leaning towards a SX2 a while ago when they had the 100 buck rebate until I talked to buddies that had previously had them, and they both had bulging barrels. I opted to spend the extra money on a SBEII, which is an excellent extreme cold weather hunting gun.
