Ice Auger Exhaust

I want to build an exhaust for my Strikemaster Auger so I don't smoke up my hard side ice house. I see they sell them for about $60. I know someone out there has done it for cheap. Besided catching fish, saving money is the most important thing about ice fishing. I would appreciate any information.

I am talking about a self made hose that hooks up to my gas auger to keep the fumes out of my hard house.

I've never seen a home made one but if I were to guess on how to make one on the cheap, I'd get some aluminum flexible dryer vent tube and a hose clamp and just fasten it right over the existing muffler. I have to admit though, I've never even seen the commercially available ones in person so I have no idea how they work.

StrikeMaster has themin stock, they are around 25.00 if I remember correctly. I was there about a month ago and asked if they were in stock.

Great Idea using the tube from a dryer exhaust. It should be easy and cheap.

Do most people just put up with the fumes?

The fumes and chips of ice finally got to me so I bought an electric. Strikemaster makes an electric battery operated auger that I am more then happy about. This thing is smoke free,noise free, drills to beat heck and does a pretty good job reopening holes. I have used it crappie fishing for for five days straight through two feet of ice without recharging and it just keeps on grinding away.
