Eskimo auger blade sharpening?

I bought a used Eskimo auger that has the seriated blade and point. Are there any secrets to sharpening it or do you just use a file?

I bought my eskimo auger back in the early 80's with the serated blades. I just use a file to sharpen them. I'm still using the original blades. My center point broke off last winter. Does anyone knows of a local store that sells them?

I too have an early 80's Eskimo, and had one of the fins on the cover that holds the gas tank on break off. Was using it with a bunge cord holding the gas tank on. Was referred to D-Rock in New Brighton. It's a landscape place but a guy works on augers in the back room. The part I needed was no longer available, but he got one that was close enough I could make it fit with a little "reengineering". Good guy. Give him a try. He also gave me some other tips, auger runs like new.
