Lowrance locator extra wires?

Finlander

Question

Just purchased a new Lowrance 330C locator/gps unit and I am reading through the instructions before mounting and there are wires that are called NMEA 2000 power cable and NMEA 0183 data cable. Also coming out of the gps connections is a wire called 60-ohm terminator.
The question is besides the main power and transducer is what do I do with these wires?
Does the 60-ohm wire from the gps go to anything, or does it has some function that us common people don't understand?
The instruction book don't tell you what to do with all of these wires, does anybody have a clue?

Hiya,
The NMEA wires that are coming out of the plug are there so you can run more than one GPS receiver off the same antenna if you want to. They aren't important beyond that. On my old boat, I just trimmed them off short (but not totally off so I could use them someday if I wanted to add another unit) and left them dangle.

Cheers,
RK

Finlander, I just purchased a GM4800 with the NMEA 2000 cables. I had to power the GPS module using the Y-adaptor network cable AND the power cable from the unit to get the GPS to work. The Y-adaptor cable has a red/black and shield wire. I just taped off the NMEA 0183 for future use like mentioned above. Did you receive the red instruction insert with your manual?

The NMEA 2000 is something that is coming out in the near future. Its the resaon why there is a blue plug on the back of the unit. The plan is that all outboards (except mercury) will will be equiped with a "black box" mounted in the motors that will be able to send information back to your Lowrance unit and give you information about your motor such as water pressure, RPM's, etc...

It may be a few years yet however.

Good news, the gps is alive and kicken!
Hooked up the wires that I previously capped off and wallah! It works!
Now, if momma would just give me more time to play
with it. Bought the Navionics 3' lake maps for it and man, will this thing be able to put me on the spots!
Gotta love these big boys toys!
