the spring bobbers are meant to be switched out depending on your lure weight. if you are using lures like ratsos, shrimpos the light action spring will work fine. with jigging spoons you will have to adjust the spring accordingly. check out st. croixs HSOforum and they have the info for you about each spring.

hope this helps

You can adjust the spring you already have by pulling it in and out to match different actions as well. You should be able to cover a decent range with just one, but having another spring in a different weight will give you more options...

I picked up a Legend last year for a Christmas present for my wife... The UL model... In my mind, it is a go to set-up when the fish are finicky!! With this rod, you will definately see those light biters. Also, helps with swimming a jig really well.

From fishing with Greg Wilczynski(the man behind this rod), Bob Horn, and Mike McNett (Both hardcore Legend Anglers) last season I learned a few things... Do not pull the spring bobber, but rather push either end to your desired setting. Pulling will stretch the spring.... Also, when fishing with your desired lure, the spring should have about a 30 degree bend in it to maximize sensitivity... So if the lure is too heavy and the spring is bent too much, push the spring back to stiffen it.. If the lure is too light and the bend is not enough, push the spring forward to loosen it...
