Never caught a walleye on the Canadian side through the ice...Want to try it this winter and wondering what sort of things to look for? Underwater points, bars, neckdowns, any ideas on where to start would be helpfull..thanks, will be going out of the Nestor Falls area

You should be in for some fun. January can't come soon enough for me here. We set our perm. shack up on a hump. Tops out at 24, with 30-40' around it. Nestor Falls isn't much different in that sense. However, if they aren't going on the humps (try lots), then move to the points, drill lots, and cover the depths from 12-40'. Jig, a minnow and your electronics is all you need.

Hemlock,

Let me know when you have them located..lol. I would really like to try some of them areas around where we fished on the English this summer. I bet that would be hot but there is way to much moving water in that area.

Ahhh, I don't think that where we were fishing last summer has or ever will be frozen. That water was moving pretty good. I'll see what I can find out as far as ice fishing goes up that way Jeff. That would be fun to find those big walleyes through the ice. laugh.gif

I know that further to the west they do some ice fishing. Maybe Separation Lake area. I believe that the In-Fish crew fishes up that way some place.

I know that spot we found the bigger fish in would never freeze. The water there was really moving...lol

Well that would be good BUT...there is not a boat landing for 6 miles from that spot and that one is iced in. This is one of them spots in a river system that has a funnel (natural fish holding area) in it. That entire area would be pretty dangrous to fish on the ice or even close to it I would think.
