Portable Shacks

Continuing the upcoming season debates over the pros and cons of ice fishing equipment, I wanted to find out a little more about what people think of Frabil vs. Clam vs. Otter sled style shacks? I would like some thoughts as to what things to consider when looking at these expensive portables?

Of the 3 you mentioned I would rank them:

1 Otter

2 Clam

3 Frabil

I think they are priced in this order too. If you check them out in stores I'm sure you would rank them in this order too. I looking at getting a clam Voyager only because a buddy of mine is also looking at a portable and the clams can hook up back to back. That way we can fish 4 comfortably or 2 seperately. I like to fish with at least 3 to keep the conversation and fishing action going. Just more fun that way for me.

Take a look at the Nordic 2 man. I really like mine. The sled seems to be the same thickness as the otter sleds and the canvas is nice and heavy.

Capra's has their name on a Polar sled set up with material like a otter but unique because the front doesn't slope down like all the other models, great head room and no bending over to go in or out the door, but I'm still lookin' to
