Large group ice fishing

Some buddies and I want to plan a ice fishing excursion for my friends b-day in Jan. There were about 15 of us and we were hoping to rent either one big or several small sleeper shacks. Any ideas???

Not sure where you want to go, but you better get on the horn fast, as it is getting pretty late to book for this winter. Especially with a group that big.

Depends on where you are looking, but I have been to Mcquoids resort on mille lacs for 4 years. They have some 13x32 houses that have 7 beds each, 5 single and 2 double beds. The fishing has never been spectacular, but enought to make it fun. The houses are new and very clean and comfortable. I'm sure there are others, but these are the nicest houses I have been in and the biggest. Worth a look.

I see you are from Rochester, so how far do you want to drive for a weekend? To Mille Lac's you are probably looking at 4 hours, Winnie 6 hours and LOTW probably 8/9 hours (estimates without rush hour).

All of those places have great opportunities for ice shack rentals. BUT you better make plans quick because for a group like that (multiple houses), availablity isn't as readily available as a 2 or 3 person group.

Red Door on the North/ Northwest side of Mille Lac's does a good job with their outfit. On LOTW Shusters or Sportsman's does a good job too.

Also don't over look some of the lodges and outfiiters that have information posted on the site. Their HSOforum should be listed for you to click on. Otherwise do a search on Yahoo.
