i took second with a Remington bolt action .223 with a tasco 8-32 worldclass scope. my father in law's buddy with the 7mmSTW won easily. the .243s did a nice job as well. it was wind as heck so there is some luck involved. Anyway, the wife's dad paid for supper (I had the prime rib)

Other things come to mind also.. Sunscreen for back of the neck and arms. Water for obvious reasons and cleanup. Really good ear protection. Advil or Tylenol because if you get continous good shooting, your gonna have a concussion headache at days end.. Gatorade or other sport drink to replenish the system while being out in the sun all day. Other refreshments for after the guns are put away. Ranging device or other measurment device...

Most other things are stated above and couple of times out, your experience will dictate.

Enjoy and may the Red Mist Fly....

Kodiak, I live just north of St. Cloud. I get down to the bigger shows in the winter in the cities. check out MWCA.org for a schedule. i will probably not make it to a gun show until Dec 10-11. let me know and i can meet up with you. it is nice to get the inside scoop before a guy forks out 1000 plus on a gun. the previos post is good advice, gatoraide and sunscreen is a must. i usually go pretty early in the year, but even in May the sun can get strong out there.

Now thats an experiance you'll remember. Taking a dump on the prairie, no trees, no truck to hide behind (cuz all your cleaning gear and supplies are in it and your buddies won't let ya take it away to hide behind, nor will they risk letting you go anywhere near they are walking around blush.gif), and absolutley nothing to lean against and read while your attempting to concentrate.

Yes, quite lonely & intimidating...... Cause your thinking anyone in a 20 mile radius can see your white keister grin.gif

Regardless, be forewarned, this is a very addictive shooting experiance. Join Varminthunters (VHA), best investment you'll make towards learning this game.
