Animal
I have a good buddy who customizes cars as a hobby. He was telling me that he often uses a fabric dye/paint that comes in a spray can. I was thinking of spraying the celing of my Otter white to improve light reflection. Does anyone have any experience with these products and do you think it would work? Jeremy airjer W
There where some guys last year or the year before talking about using those emergency servival blankets for this. Basically those foil blanket/sleeping bag things in the camping section of your favorite sporting goods store. The foil would not only reflect light but would also reflect the heat. From what I gather they worked pretty slick. I don't rember how the mounted them to the fabric though.
hondavxr
I still have my old Eskimo traveler portable and the inside is white. (Contact US Regarding This Word) this protable required so little light to light the whole rig. I think that will be a great idea. I might also spray that white fabric spray on my pther portable also. The only thing that I am worry about is the durability of the paint. Will it chip pr peel if it's sustain to hot or extreme cold tempe? Anyone know?
Jeremy airjer W
I was thinking the same thing. It may not be fexible enough to hold up to the constant folding and unfolding!Like I always say, never try anything on your own stuff unless it worked on somebody elses first! irvingdog
I'm the one who uses the foil blankets. I've been selling them to my customers for years. I slide them between the pipes and the canvas, measure where the velcro tabs will come through, re-inforce that area with duct tape, and cut slits for the tabs. It is brighter and warmer.Yes, it does work slick. And it does not suck to have an emergency blanket around. In case of, you know, an emergency. Ya Hey Der
I know someone that used the emergency blanket in his otter and he said that all the noise that it made wasn't worth it, especially on a windy day. That was his experience. I don't know what kind of lantern you use but you may want to look into some other options. I'd just hate to see you do something that was permanent and then have it ruin your canvas. One other option would be to try reflectex or something like this, it is a bit thicker and wouldn't flap around. It will keep you warm and should help reflect the light. good luck!YHD
Jeremy airjer W
Irvingdog, It was you! As soon as I seen your name it clicked. I've been thinking about giving that Reflectix stuff a whirl. The only disadvatage I can see is that it would have to be removed when the house was folded up. Using Irvingdogs Idea of using velcro to attatch it may make this process fairly easy, And from what I can see in the Menards ad it rolls up into a pretty tight roll. Anybody up for some experimenting. I'd be willing to by a roll and divy up as needed. I'll have to do some measuring to see what width would work best. It comes in either 24" or 48". I've also been thinking about putting this in the bottom of the sled before I install my cabinet style Modifications.
Ya Hey Der
airjer, goinfishin has the reflectix in his pull over house and he keeps it in when he folds it up. It just folds up with the canvas in between the poles, granted it does add some thickness to the overall canvas when it is collapsed. If you have a cover for your sled, it would help keep the canvas down and keep from springing up.YHD

SCHAAKATTACK
If you are going to spray it with dye try on a hidden spot first. The fabric is pretty pourous and may bleed thru. Now you will have a spotted exterior. Maybe try it on skirting and go from there.
nauticaljohn
Just a thought about brightening up the house. I bought the Add-on shroud that fits over the Coleman lanterns. It puts out 40-50% more light. I bought it from a company that advertises on here. Well worth the look.
