Bitter lake

Anyone been out on Bitter Lake lately? I'm headed out for the last fishing trip of the year this weekend. Hope it's not too cold. I was out there in May and June and had some luck. Just wondering if they are still catching them out there.

I talked to a guy tonight who was there on Saturday. He is a pretty good stick and they got shut out. They tried raps and live bait. It sounded like they worked 13' and less.

You may want to give some deeper breaks a try. ( Just a guess)

Thanks Tweedlap. It's looking a little cold and windy this weekend, and with gas at about $3 a gallon I might just stay home. I've heard from others that it has slowed down on bitter too.

Well I went last weekend anyways. I store my boat in western MN so I decided to make one more trip and put her away for winter. Between 3 of us we caught one eye. No other boats on the north end so it must be slow for everyone. There were plenty of mallards and mudhens to keep us company. Should have brought the 12 ga.

Sorry to hear your luck was rather meager.

Bitter Lake is a wildlife heaven. It’s always full of ducks, geese, pelicans, and plenty of other waterfowl birds. Most years, it’s the last body of open water in the NE part of the state and it really fills up with mallards and honkers.
