196thDLR
You put up some convincing arguements JW. However, even if Moss was still with the Vikes I do not think he would make that much of a difference to the outcomes of our first four games, and here is why. I believe that the offensive lines blocking schemes have really been of poor quality. Culpepper needs more than 1-1/2 seconds to get rid of the ball in a safe manner. Even with three of Moss playing, your quarterback needs more than a second and a half to make an accurate throw. Every game plan starts out with the big butts up front, if those five or six guys do not do their job, the offense will go nowhere. That seems to be where this offense is going; NOWHERE.The defense! I'm not sure that I want to call those 11 guys a defense. Most of the time they look like a chinese fire drill. The opponents offensive line is getting to the second level far, far, too often. When they can do that, your running game is going to take off like an SR-71. After spending over 20 million dollars in bonus money this year for defensive help, we sure did not get our moneys' worth. james_walleye
I agree 196, i dont know if any of those games outcomes may have changed. They probably would still be 1-3, possibly 2-2 pulling the game against the bucs out. But you know what, they would have been more competitive in the other 2 games. They dont get down 27-0 and 30-0 or whatever it was in those games. I'm not saying adding Moss makes this a superbowl team, or even a playoff team. Im just saying the team would be better, and would be closer too being a superbowl caliber team. I know our O-line has troubles, the defense still has troubles, and i think the biggest trouble is coaching. Now if all those problems get addressed at sometime, whether its sometime this year, or next, or in 2 years, having Moss with all those problems addressed puts you closer too the promise land. Right now as it stands the vikings also have a problem in finding a recieving weapon, now its just another problem that needs too be addressed. This Moss-less recieving core seems too have no punch, now that needs too be addressed along with all the other problems. Just one more tough step that needs too be addressed, one that in my mind could have been avoided. We all saw the attention that Moss recieved, dragging multiple defenders around. Even so you could still huff it up too him and he would still bring some of those balls down for big plays. It doesnt take a rocket scientist too figure out that this all made the field more open for the other recievers. Now defenses dont have too shade so many defenders too Moss's side of the field and now you dont see recievers running free anymore. Its not just the pure numbers that Moss gave the team that we are missing, its all the attention he took away from everyone else. Sure you could hold Moss once in a while too 4 catches and 45 yards in a game, but if you did it was at the expense of letting other guys run free all over the place. Its just not as easy anymore, it doesnt work that way now, thats all there is too it. It all comes down too its not as easy too score points anymore and in turn its alot harder too win a football game. The ultimate goal of any NFL team is a championship, and having the biggest weapon in the NFL on your side would have made it easier.

196thDLR
JW: I have to wholeheartedly agree that Moss commanded the attenion of more than one DB. One on one is not a matchup that favored the defense with perhaps the most talented WR to ever play the game of football. And yes, the Vikes would probably have a better chance to get to the Big One with his being in purple.Sadly, it ain't gonna happen anytime soon. Why is it our opponents front four can generate enough pressure on our QB to allow everyone else to fall back in coverage? JW, I am going to keep beating this poor dead horse until I am taking a dirt nap. When your O-line is not earning their gamecheck, knowone else will either.
