jltimm
I just picked up my Stoeger 2000 combo from Cabelas today and also got my $150 cash card.It sure is a nice, light, easy to throw up gun!One question though? Is black synthetic the color they were selling a while back or was it the camo one?I'am also wondering which choke to use for ducks and geese with steel shot?I read the manual and used the recommended choke size for steel, and shot from about 25-30 yards at a 3'x3' target.I guess this weekend will tell me if the gun is a duck killer or not. Kodiak
can you put a beretta/benelli choke in a stoeger, i assume you could.
jltimm
Thanks Kodiak!I will have a report on here after the weekend shoot.I do not have a clue about the Benelli/Berreta chokes.
Borch
You'd use either the Imp. Cylinder or Modified for ducks and geese with steel shot. Yes the berretta/benelli chokes will work in it. I agree with you, it sure is a nice light easy swing gun.I'm using the Imp. Cylinder in mine. Although I have to send the Modified choke back as there is something wrong with it's threads. All the other chokes that came with work just fine.
jltimm
The Stoeger shot flawlessly on Saturday, through about 10-12 shots. It was the operater that was not doing it's job!I had a dud shell on Sunday for the 1 shot that I had,(at least I think it was a dud)I couldn't find the shell to look at the primer?I put in a different choke for Sun.,but did not get any chances to see if it made a difference? Kodiak
i use the briley chokes in my sbe an i went to install the one in my stoeger and it seemed it didnt seat all the way like it did in the benelli, but it screws in easily like the threads are the same, maybe it is me but i dunno. I took the stoeger out yesterday for duck hunting because my benelli is totally taked apart (drying out from flooded timber hunting) and when i got to my spot i started to load shells in and i realized i took my plug out because this is my deer gun CRAPP!!! so i just packed up and left!! what a waste of time on my fault i was [PoorWordUsage]ed, so was the dog. I just put everything back in the truck and went back out with the dog scouting and enjoying nature.

jltimm
Cabelas has the combos for $540.00.Hey Kodiak, you should of tried to find a stick of the proper length and diameter,or a pencil if you had 1 with.I used a cut carpenters pencil in my 870 when I couldn't find the plug at the beginning of the year. Kodiak
i thought about it but i didnt have a pencil in my truck. If you tell them that you wanted one when they where on sale for 500bucks but they were out of stock they will honor the 500 price. There should be one there because they ordered two by accident for me. What do you all use for aftermarket choke tubes for your stoeger?
jltimm
I think I got your extra Stoeger, Kodiak. They told me the day before I went there that my ordered Stoeger had come in,but when I got there and asked for it they could not find it in my name so they sold me the one I now have.I just got my first goose with my new Stoeger, but once again during the shoot I had a mishap with another shell not going off,and once again I couldn't find it?Hopefully I don't have a junk Stoeger here? Kodiak
did you tear apart you bolt assembly all the way down, and take the firing pin out with the spring and clean everything with gun scrubber, they pack it with grease and you have to get all of that out, after you clean it all good, wipe it with the oil wipes. I guarantee that is your problem unless you are using shells out of the same box and they are a dud batch. Dont worry it is probally one of the two, just take the gun totally apart and get that black packing grease off of everything.
jltimm
I just tore it apart last night after a good soaking rain on my goose hunting adventure.I got the book out and tore it down step by step, other than the trigger assembly.I wiped everything down, and sprayed some Remington teflon lubricant on some parts.I was a little nervous at first, taking it apart, but it seems like a fairly simple gun.I'll have to give it another test in the field, and see if it does the same thing or not.Hopefully it won't, cause I really like everything about the gun. shamalex72
When I bought mine last year, the first thing the salesman told me to do was take it apart and clean everything real good. I've had no problems yet.
jltimm
Well the Stoeger performed flawlessly this weekend! It must have been the cleaning that did it.4 geese and 1 mallard in 2 days.Should have been more ducks in the bag,but I just wasn't on today!
