got out for the first time today...caught a few nice walleye on the river!!

Ryan. I am headed up to Selkirk next weekend for the first time. Can you give me some pointers on how to fish greenbacks up there? What kind of lures? Thanks

Dandy looking eyes you got there Ryan. Which river are you referring to? I think I chatted with you before. I had posted a query about fishing for trout in Lyons Lake. You very kindly answered with excellent info including your contact info. Well I never made it up there this year but I'm going to try harder next year. Thanks for showing some great pics. hey dirt ball..yeah that was me:) as for info on what we were using,it was pretty much the usual stuff...chartruse,or pink and white jigs,3/8 ounce..

chartruse whistler jigs are one of my favorite..

for bait we were using salted shiners,

and as for depth,we started out in the chanel, fishing in 11 feet of water,with no success...then we moved closer to the east shore, in 7 feet of water, that seemed to the best depth....

here's a picture of the two spots were we were fishing...and if you want i can show you some other good spots as well...I should be out there next saturday just give me a ring and we'll hook up..I'll have my cell on me..

Have they come in at Pine Falls also? I will be there Oct. 1-3 but will try the Red if they are not at Pine Falls. What is the water temp on the river?

yeah I hear there doing no to bad at pine falls..

but if I were you i would plan to hit the red for at least a day,you'll get a few bigger fish in there...by then the walleye should be going strong.

Thanks for the info Ryan. I am meeting 3 guys in Fargo on Sunday morning. We are fishing Sunday afternoon, Monday and Tuesday. We won't be there Saturday. Sorry to miss you but thanks for the great info. It is my first trip to the mighty Red so I am really getting pumped.

Ryan, glad I ran accross this post. We leave next Thur for a little fishing up there. How is the bite for big fish? Any report you can give would be helpful.

fishing is great..pine falls is supposed to have a tonne of fish ,and the red has alot too,with bigger ones mixed in..

we caught a bunch around 4-5 pounds today..no monsters for us,but we witnessed a few caught around us..
