I finder sunrise and sunset

leechlake

Question

I have my I finder on my desk. I wanted to know the sunrise sunset for today. I put in September 22, 2005, the unit has locked on to it's latitude and longitude and it tells me sunrise is 602am and sunset is 6:12 pm (it's 6:21am as I type and it's black like midnight out, also I'm in the western suburbs of Mpls). The sunrise sunset per the newspaper is 6:57am and 7:16pm. Just curious if anyone elses is screwed up too, or if I'm screwed up. Just curious, I can't imagine this is a software issue, because from year to year sunrise and sunset is the same or nanoseconds different.

leechlake, you must acquire your position before you can determine the correct sunset and sunrise. Once you have acquired your position hit the menu button twice and choose " System Setup" when that page opens choose "set local time". Be sure that DST option is "on" for United States. Exit out of this page to the previous menu page that contains choice " Utilities". Hit "ENT" button and highlight "Sun/Moon Calc". If you have acquired your position, you will get the correct sunrise/ sunset reading. Since I am doing this Friday evening September 23, 2005, my readings came out as 7:06 am and 7:13 pm. If you type in the correct date you will not get the proper sunrise/sunset. You have to have an active, acquired position.
