tacklebox7FF
What is the minnesota regulation on using spinning wing decoys on private land.. I've talked to a dump load of people and they've said that you can't use them at all this season anywhere....I know in the regulations it states that------From the opening day of the duck season(which includes Youth waterfowl day) through Saturday October 8, a person may not use a motorized decoy or other motorized device designed attract migratory birds to take migratory waterfowl.. On water bodies and lands fully contained within state wildlife management area boundries, a person may not use motorized decoys or motorized devices designed to attract migratory birds at any time during the duck season. This restriction applies whether the motor is running or not. Devices without motors, such as wind-powered spinning wing decoys, are not restricted under this law------so does this mean you can use spinning wing decoys on private land starting the 9th of October?? just seeing if anyone has talked to a source about this regulation.. Info would be great.. I have a friend that has a spinning wing decoy and was wondering.. I personally don't own one but I was looking into maybe getting one, But if you cant use em why buy one...TB
WALLEYENUTZ
YES, and you can use them on public waters after Oct. 8th as well. It's just the WMA that have total restriction.

HUNTINGBAILEY
DOES THIS LAW ALSO APPLY FOR THE VIRATING DUCKS? THE ONES THAT HAVE THE QUIVER MAGNETS?, I WOULD ASSUME SO CAUSE THEY HAVE A MOTOR IN THEM?
Mark Christianson
From the DNR Waterfowl supplement: From the opening day of the duck season (which includes Youth Waterfowl Day) through Saturday October 8, a person may not use a motorized decoy or other motorized device designed to attract migratory birds to take migratory waterfowl. On water bodies and lands fully contained within state wildlife management area boundaries, a person may not use motorized decoys or motorized devices designed to attract migratory birds at any time during the duck season. poutpro
There also are a lot of WMA waters that aren't fully enclosed within the WMA. A lot of them have a side that is privately owned, so they motorized decoys can still be used.
