Guest
How many of you think that just maybe Jeffs drive or desire to win may just be a little of the problem as far as one of his problems in doing better this year?
JohnMickish
I don't think so, I think he and the crewchief drifted apart mid-season. I think Jeff's drive to win is stronger than ever and he wants that championship #7.
NAPAFISH
Championship #7 ????? Doesnt he have to win 5 and 6 first??? Save for last year, Loomis never seemed to duplicate Evernhams setups in the cars. I think in 01 or whenever it was. Those were the last of the Evernham cars. The desire is there but how much longer would it take to get to seven?? I would be willing to bet he hangs it up in the next 3-5 years. Dont think he needs to race as long as Rusty, Rudd or DJ. lawdog
01 wasn't Evernham's cars, he'd been gone two years by then. The biggest difference is that they let Brian Whitesell go to the 5/25 shop. Loomis never was that good, but Whitesell was Car Chief and he builds the best.I heard the guy on Wind Tunnel last night saying he thought that Jeff has lost his drive, I say that's bull. Sure he is having more fun now and living the good life, but he's a racer and has been since he was a little kid. Strap those belts on and that helmet and I guarantee you can't go out there and h@lf@ss it!
Sifty
I have'nt done it but if someone has sometime look at the impound races and compare them to last year. I think that the 24 is very good on setup in the practices and during the run of the race but you need to be close on the impound race to be able to work it out in the race.Just a thought.Sifty
lawdog
I think that's a good point Sifty, they have been real good on making big adjustments in the course of a weekend to get the car dialed in and they were definitely not good overall on impound races this year. JohnMickish
NAPA, what I mean is if anyone is going to get to 7 or more championships in the next 15 years I would bet the farm that it's Jeff Gordon. And IMO, his drive is as strong as anyone elses out there.
