We're not the only ones ....

Caught this guy through the lens while I was fishing bass on Beltrami north of Bemidji over the weekend. I did better on bass than he did, but he kicked my butt on sunnies.

I've spent lots of time over 23 years on Beltrami, but I only ever see otters in September and October. In those months, I've sort of come to expect them. Good companions, and they know more about fishing than we ever will.

Too bad it was Labor Day weekend. Can't see it from the image, but all those waves were from boats and jet skis zipping along behind me. Talk about rocking the boat. On a different day, he'd have let me get a lot closer, but he was a wary fellow on that Sunday.

Very nice pic. Keep it up. By the way, Beltrami is pretty good fishing lake, so keep it up.

Awesome picture Steve... Otters are on the decline in my area, seems to be a problem with mercury levels in these critters. It's a sad thing to not see more of them around like we used too..
