Polaris Sportsman 05 ??

Have been noticing a cluncking or clanking(metal on metal) when I stab the throttle, I think from the center/rear of the atv. Sounds like a gear engagemant issue.. or maybe it's normal. The machine has 300 miles on it now and rides great other than that. Has anybody noticed this or know what it could be? Thought I'd ask here before taking it in. Thanks

What size is it? I have a 600 sportsman and was told that the clanking noise in the drivetrain was normal for the year and maodel. I am not sure that is true but mine does it and I haven't had anuy problems yet. Please post what you find out, I would be interested to see if you hear something different.

The clanking noise from stabbing the throttle from a dead stop is "normal". This has been a "burr under the blanket" for Polaris since they introduced EBS on their clutch system. Both my 500 and my 700 (20004.5 carb models) do this. As well as my neighbor's 700 EFI of the same year.

Although considered "normal" it is VERY annoying. However after 3000 combined miles, I have zero clutch failures to report. I would have thought Ma Polaris would have had this wrinkle ironed out for the 05 models... confused.gif
