Trailer for rent?

DuluthGuy

Recommended Posts

Hey all - I'm looking to possibly trailer a 33' 12,500# twin screws boat from Ohio. I am also looking at having a trailer made - however, if I could loan one from someone it might save me a few grand today...

So, anyone have a trailer to match the Chris Craft Coho's needs?

Thanks for your time~

Isn't seaworthy?

Is it on (or anywhere near) Lake Erie? or can't the seller get it to Lake Erie for you?

You probably see where I'm going with this.

Seems you could sail from Erie to Duluth Harbor for less than "a few thousand dollars"

Actually you would not believe how much in fuel (I would venture to guess in the 4-5 thousand range)it would cost to go accross the great lakes along with the 2 weeks of time spent doing the trip. Plus playing cards against mother nature.

Yum - It is on Erie - But, as Cheffery said it would take a lot of fuel and time.

At about 830 N. Miles averaging 15 knots (mostly against the wind) + any lock(s) makes it about 56 hours. Stopping at marina's for gas. At 20 gal/hr, I would use 1120 (plus at least 10%) So 1240 gallons * $3.00 gal @ marina's would be $3,720.00 in gas. As this would be my first (not counting initial cruise for purchase) on the water - I would assume a possible $100-$2500 in maintenance possibilities. The tow or marina (emergency) repairs are steep/per hour.

The list could go on~

However, I agree it would be fun to take my time back and hit a few fishing spots, etc. I just don’t have the time. (but, the thought did cross my mind – It’s just the first time out and not knowing the boat inside and out yet really scares me, to be out on the ponds when both engines go… ooo.gif)

I guess Dave didn't work out for you.

Beware you will have to obtain Oversize permits for all the states you cross, and travel daytime only. Also trailer for that size boat will be very heavy and probably a gooseneck style, you will need a heavy duty 1 ton truck. I don't think they make bumper pull trailers for that size boat, due to the V Drives (screw) it has to be built different than one for a I/O with outdrives.
