Cross bow

Well after 34 years of bow hunting my shoulder just doesn't like pulling my Hoyt back any more. I'm considering buying a cross bow because I just can't give up bow hunting. Are there any suggestions from anyone out there as to name brand and features that would help me select a cross bow??

I reccomend in this order: 1. Excalibur, because they are user friendly, and only one thing can go wrong really, string breakage. 2. Ten Point, very accurate very reliable compound crossbow. I have both the excalibur exocet and ten point tl-4. I love them both. Thirdly you get what you pay for, but I would but the horton over the barnett.

No, not just anyone can use them. You have to have a physical limitation that both your doctor and the DNR decide warrants the use of one. One of my hunting partners had his shoulder replaced and is on a permanent 5 lb weight restriction with his arm. On that note he uses a Horton, and they have treated him very good, but that's the only brand he's tried. One night his cousin was target practicing with it and dry fired it. It cracked the limbs and after a call, Horton replaced the limbs and all it cost him was the shipping.

Ole,

I use a Horton and like it but it is the only brand I've shot. Before you buy one make sure you get the proper application for the DNR and have your doctor sign it and get approval (if you plan to hunt in MN). I believe in WI people over age 65 can use a cross bow. I am not positive on that but it is coming from a friend whose dad uses one.

Sorry for my tardiness. I have heard horton is a well to do crossbow and repairs on it are quick and easily done through their customer service dept. Never shot a Horton or Barnett, like I said, you get what you pay for.
