Stratosman
You're talkin trim coil they use for roof fascia? I suppose that would work, they have matched trim nails, but they might not be large enought to hold in that application, maybe just a galvinized siding nail. You could probably finish off around the door and windows with a peice of 1x4 cedar blind caulked and applied over the trim coil? Kinda of a neat idea and for sure cost efficient. The Grebe
2...If you are into siding your fish house, I've got a method that works really good...a friend and I devised it many years ago. We only used it once, because he died from something, unexpectedly? First you get a bunch of wooden pallets and you take off all the boards. Then you install the boards like siding on your fish house, very cost efficent, but you can't drive a nail through the wood, nor put a screw into it, until you drill a pilot hole...small price to pay for the savings. Alot of the boards are warped, so you have to get alot more pallets then what you will actually need, it took us about 140 to get enough straight wood for the siding for a 4x6x4 but we saved alot of money! The fish house is a little heavy, it weighs about a ton and a half...we know the exact weight, because the DOT pulled us over and weighed us on the portable scale and gave us a ticket for being over weight for the truck, small price to pay for the big savings we got by using the trash pallets. Also, the big winter winds don't budge the thing no matter what! Once we got it on the lake and started using it...(We could'nt take it out until the ice was 2 feet thick) my friend started getting sick each time he went up fishing and he finally found out from the doctor that it was from the chemicals that were in the wood from the pallets! No big deal, small price to pay for the savings! We picked up some face masks from Northern Hydrlics and we got one of those Ionic breeze thingies off the T.V. and now no one gets sick, just upset stomachs and once in awhile the trots, but boy we saved a bundle on the siding! All our savings was for nothing though...we were both so sick one week-end, we could'nt make it up to the fish house, the weather warmed and the house sank into the water, along with the 4 sissor jacks we used to jack it up. It refroze and try as we might, we could'nt get it out...the DNR came and burned it down after Feb. 28th and gave us a ticket, plus we had to go clean up the mess they made of our house! So, if you want to save some long green, do as we did and find yourself some pallets...but try to get them from a place that deals in vegetables, not chemicals.
