vikingmeatwad
I bought the 8 lb kind that says dia of 1 lb. If I always used 8 lb mono for walleye fishing didn't I get the right line? Or should I have gotten the 20 lb or so?Let me know! I leave for canada at 11 tomorrow morn. Thanks!
Tom Wilson
8 lb. PP is amazing line and works well for most of the guys I know that fish for them things (boy I'm on a roll tonight) and we used it extensively for the last couple of springs down on the river. Works well and is super strong. Toothy critters including eyes will still at times be able to cut it, but nowhere near as much as mono.
Darrell Larson
You have the proper Power Pro line, I use the size that you are talking about, I fish on Vermilion alot and it works really well. It's worth it's weight in gold, when I get hung up in the rocks, I have yet to break it when I am trying to get unhooked from the bottom. The sensitivity is great, you can feel exactly what kind of bottom your in, rocks, mud, rubble etc. One word or caution when tying on, don't pull the line through your palm, it will leave a saw cut on your two little fingers as you tighten/cinch up the line. It hurts like the dickens, and will take a long time to heal. Past expierence is talking here. Have a good time north of the border. There is not a walleye up there that you can't handle with the 8lb. test. Good luck north of the border. Darrell Larson.
delmuts
your new line should be great . remember you are talking dia. the smaller dia. will hav less resistance in the water, the no stretch will give you more feel( it sounds like you plan to use it for jigging) some of us step up to the heavier poundage is cause we can and still retain the same dia. if you go back and check the bass forums there was a lot of disscussion on braids. you will find there is a time and place for both mono and a braid. keep mono on your spare spool( if you have one) . compare both to the type of fishing you do. let us know your results. Northlander
Yes you have the right stuff. Remember jigs will now drop faster so a smaller jig may be in order.
