Owls!

One of nature's most perfect predators. Weighs only a couple pounds, insulates with down and feather, can hear the single evil thought within an auditorium of evangelists, can break through hard snow crust after a vole in a single drop. The great gray owl. Glad this guy's not mad at me, though I've had one or two come right at me and swerve away with less than a foot of separation. Reckon that was a warning!

It had just finished raining. Note the wet fringe of feathers around the owl's head. Pulled over in the vehicle, shut off the motor (ANY vibration of motors in boat or car can ruin things) and fired off a bunch of RAW shots. This one could be printed 20 inches by 30 inches (well, actually somewhat larger) and sharp as a tack with a full-frame 8.2 megapixel RAW image. Love that digital!
