DTro
I'm sure some of you have seen the pic in todays Strib. 50" and 36" girth estimated at 75lbs. Isn't that a state record? It's a huge fish, but doesn't look like 75. Whadya think?
Dennis Steele
The reporter was obviously a fisherman! My guess is around 60.
Ralph Wiggum
Yeah, 50 inches and 75 pounds? I doubt it. Definitely a nice fish, but no 75 pounder.
hanson
Never being around a flathead that big, I couldn't say. It doesn't look nearly as big as that 55lb you caught dtro. My guess is the camera added some pounds.
DTro
yeah, the camera does the same to me Or it could be that DQ blizzard every night
fiskyknut
That is a HUGE Mudcat. Look at the curled tail, and with a girth that round who's to say it's not as heavy as reported. Easily the biggest Flathead I've seen posted on this site anyhow. WOW!A friend of mine caught a 67 inch Sturgeon with the same girth and it went 117 pounds, Sturgeon have that long thin tail too, if the measurements are correct on that beast of a catfish I'd think it could weigh out at 75 no problem.Let me be the first to congratulate this angler on a great catch rather than make 'light' of his catch.....CONGRATULATIONS!An impressed and also envious fiskyknut. Willy
If you could make that picture a little bigger, it would be easier to see and make a judgment on. Sure looks like a hog whatever it weighed out at. Where was it caught?
