Tyler Holm
I consider myself a fairly estabolished Dove hunter. I'm from South Dakota where dove hunting has been legal since I started hunting 12+ years ago. I've hunted doves every year and taken several 15 bird limits. I moved to Rochester this past January. Here is where my story has a glitch. I am new to the area and its laws and I am looking for the guidance of a local (or someone that knows the lay of the land).Dove hunting is a sport where it really doesn't matter how many people you have in your group. In many cases, the more, the better. If your in an area with doves, every misses and everybody will get plenty of shooting. Is there anyone in the area that could use another manned gun? I will probably start scouting some public areas in the new few weeks, but I'd like to get in with somebody that has done it before in this area. Maybe even try a little private land. Land owners are usually pretty easy going when it come to dove hunting permissions. Please let me know if your heading out dove hunting (or even scouting) around Rochester and wouldn't mind another person.[email protected]
FOOT
Tyler, I don't think many people here in MN have done much dove hunting since last year was our first year.I went up north to my brothers land by Battle Lake but we didn't see many dove's except on posted land. We decided to go fishing instead since it was in the 80's.We also haven't really learned much on dove hunting except you want to set up in a field that is close to water, correct ?If you would like to get together with some died in the wool waterfowl hunters we are having a Ducks Unlimited committee meeting Monday night at 7:00pm at the Holiday Inn South. Tullibee
hey Tyler I might be interested in doing a little dove hunting this fall. I live in rochester but I grew up in hayfield (about 30 miles west of roch) so I know quite a few land owners over there that already let me pheasant hunt. I've never done the dove thing but I would like to get into it. shoot me an email at cory_mn @ yahoo dot com
Tyler Holm
I sent you an email. I snowmobiled around the Hayfield area before, but that about it. Looking forward to meeting and maybe doing a little hunting with you. Thanks for the reply. Anyone else interested in a dove hunt?

magnumthunder
I went out goose hunting Saturday and was suprised by how many doves I seen. Heck it might be kinda fun to shoot them things with a trap load. How many does it take to make a meal? How do they taste?
Tyler Holm
I'd say I could eat about 5-6 doves in a sitting (around 10 breast halves). That's quite a bit of meat. Since I don't get to eat them that much, I fill up when I get the chance. I cook them exactly as I cook a pheasant and they taste every bit as good as a pheasant. MagnumThunder, shoot me an email if you'd like some company.
