Big Julie
an ambassador 6500 with a broken foot (piece that attaches to the rod). repair charges are $80. partly for the frame replacement, the rest labor to take it apart and back together. Anyone know if the foot can be welded/soldered back onto the frame and if so who can do it?
0 Gus
Is that price quoted through Abu? If not, I would send it in to them and see what they say after they get it. I've had new reels sent back to me (actually my dad) when he sent them into Abu for repair.
0 Big Julie
I just called ABU and they are offering 45% discount on a new reel.Probably will go with that. They are showing a D series of reels and a moruum...The reel will be used on a Musky rod.Any advice between the D5, D6 or the Moruum reels? The D5 is around $100, the D6 is around $120 and the Moruum is $200.Anyone used the Moruum? Thanks,
0 tonyjor
Sorry to intrude on your post, but I am also having trouble with my ambassadeur reel. I thought they had some sort of warranty but I got no paperwork with mine. My problem is that I set the drag light for trolling and when I reel in, it tightens the drag back up. Is this normal? I've also noticed that when I put my rod away, I hook the line into the lower part and reel in the slack. Once I get it all out, instead of the drag working, the handle just spins like my drag isn't set all the way tight. Any suggestions?

0 Big Julie
I have seen this...with the line not traveling across the spool. It is a very inexpensive part (a few bucks) that causes the doohickey to not travel across the spool with the line.any bait shop that offers reel repair should be able to help. The other reel with the spinning handle I do not know. But, again it propably is relatively simple if you can find someone who works with reels. Most communities have someone.
