has anyone made a racking system for a trailer so they can put their full bodies in without taking them apart and so they arent banging into each other going down the road.

I have found that custom made bags work the best. Diane's custom bags has full body bags for Dave Smith, Hardcore, Big Foots and GHG, and others if you have them. You should be able to find her on the web. I actually designed my own and had an Amish craftsman make them for me. The reason I prefer bags is that if you ever have to carry you decoys in, you are in trouble with racks in your trailer. Bags will usually hold 6 each, so a person can carry a dozen very easily by themselves. You can even have the bags made to hang on the walls to act as shelves if that is what you would like.

I have been debating either shelves or a pole through the feet. Advantage of the pole is you can carry them into the field, but I have a plastic sled for that. Probably going to install metal brackets towards the back of the trailer that accept little metal clips to support plywood shelves. I only have 3 dozen Big Foots to worry about. The Higdons are carried in bags and assembled in the field.

do you have any pics? Also i looked on the web and could not find anything on dianes bags

thanks again!

Do a search on yahoo for "custom decoy bags by diane" and it will be the first entry. There are a ton of picts on there to get different ideas of ways to pack decoys.

alright i got some copper tubing and i am going to use it as poles for the decoys, now here is my problem how do i mount them to the wall, lets say i am using 1" copper the rigid stuff, how do i get the poles to stay on the wall? I have thought about closet pole brackets but they might bounce out of them and i would have a hellova mess.

thanks,

J

Bore a hole through a piece of 2x4 large enough for the pipe then cut a notch so you can slide in the pipe. You only have to notch one for each pair of holders. Cut the notch at a steep angle or straight down from the top of the block (so you lift the pole up to get it out)to keep the pole from jumping out. Could also drill a hole through the two legs of the notch and insert a bolt to keep the pole from jumping out.

I installed the metal clip shelving this weekend and put in three 5/8" plywood shelves to hold my decoys. Put up a cargo net to keep them from falling off the shelves.
