Matt Johnson
Latest report I've heard was that the smallies are everywhere! My uncle spent about a week up there and caught them trolling spinner-rigs and cranks, as well as float jigs. They also caught them pitching cranks and inline spinners along the shorelines too. Lobstick Bay was pretty good for the most part. There are a few good spots in that area for largies too. Not a whole lot of people target them up there, but there are some real monsters to be had. A couple of the bays in and around the mouth of Berry Creek will usually hold some largies this time of year. BDR and I picked up some piggies out there last year, quite a few in the 3-4 pound range. Some days they were very hard to come by, while other days it seemed like we were catching them every other cast. A lot of water to cover up there in that area, and there were several different bays that held fish.Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
dirtking
Are there any walleyes to be had in Whitefish bay? Every time I have been up there we head towards yellow girl or further. Any recent reports?
Hemlock
Walleyes in Whitefish Bay: Size, but not many for numbers. It's worth the trip in my opinion to head to Yellowgirl/Sunset
Matt Johnson
I agree with Hemlock, make the trip up to Yellowgirl. More numbers and the size can be a little better too. I don't typically target walleyes in Whitefish when I'm up there. If it's not Lobstick, it's Yellowgirl or Smith Island mostly. One group at our camp landed 4 walleye over 27 inches out near Smith in a couple hours of fishing. And to be honest, it was right about this time of year too. Some big ones to be had if you can find them. Troll some cranks too, don't just focus on live-bait rigging and jigging. Gold shad raps.Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
