Bites or Follows?

Just wondering if other people are getting bites or follows? Last Wednesday 3 of us had one follow, 3 bites where we did not get a good hookset, and one follow the follow was probably the fish we did end up catching. You never really know for sure though.

Myself and my fishing partner have put 6 fish in the boat the last three days, with many other strikes. 3 fish yesterday(2 morning, 1 night) and 3 fish on Monday(3 morning) Have had two fish strike at the boat that were not caught. All fish have come off of Bionic Bucktails and have been very aggressive. All fish have come off the same point!!! The largest fish was a 43 1/2", the rest were all around 32-36". It has been fun to put fish in the boat again. Good luck to all!

I was fishing instate, in the metro area. Water temps were relatively low on Monday(78.1 degrees in the morning)

and on Wednesday afternoon it was way up there again(85.3 degrees). Was out the same lake this morning and it was perfect out. Unfortunately, no fish. Water temps this morning were at 77.4 degrees)

I got out monday morning and had one strike on topwater. She sucked it under so quiet you could hardly know it was there. But she swam straight for the boat and there was too much slack to get a good hookset. Had two other follows. Was also out wednesday night. But I only had one missed strike. The fish were up to something else though. I saw two of them swimming with there heads out of the water. Has anyone else ever seen such a thing. I couldn't get them to look at anything. Its pretty frustrating knowing that there is one right in front of you and it won't even look at your bait. Does anyone know what these fish are doing or how to catch them?

I have seen Muskies do this on a few different occasions. It is almost creepy the way they come out of the water Mouth, eyes and even part of there gills. I asked a bioligist about this and he put it in some very simple language- "there just looking around" he told me. Apparentley muskies are just as curios about us as we are of them and we all know they have little fear of a boat or humans. I had one come up about twenty feet from the boat on Mantrap and swim 3/4 of the way around the boat then slip back into the water. It kinda creeped me out.

I seen one follow a womens feet that she had hanging over the side of a small boat. It was about 2 feet behind her feet. It followed her feet for about 20 -30 yards. Her male friend was in the back of the boat running the electric motor and never seen it. I was so glad my wife was with me to see it, she was going nuts, she couldn't believe it. Now she knows why I'm obsessed by muskies.

I was up on Catfish Lake in Eagle River, WI. I used a Sisco Kid bait, a Pacemaker, and a Slopmaster (Joe Bucher) buzzbait... over a period of three days/night... I managed to have seven follows... none of them took the bait though. frown.gif

My buddy caught a good 15-20lb northern that was doing that same thing, looked like the head would just stick out and it just looked real weird. He reeled up his lindy rig and casted at it before I could and fish on. He ended up catching it so that was a pretty cool experience.
