Drop shot vs. Carolina rig?

On a drop shot rig the setup up is

Hook then the sinker ( the hook is between the reel and sinker.

On a Carolina rig the setup up is .

Sinker then hook ( the sinker is between the reel and hook.).

The drop shoot is good at keeping the bait at a set distance off the bottom. Like right above 12” weeds and the fish doesn’t have to lift the sinker for you to know he is there.

The Carolina rig is good at letting the fish inhale the bait with little resistance, allay Lindy rig.

Dropshot Rig

A carolina rig covers more water faster. Generally you cast a carolina rig quite a distance wait for the lure to reach bottom and drag it back to the boat, in a drag/pause and reel in the slack and then drag again retrieve. A dropshot on the other hand is made to cover a very small spot. Casts are quite short, I usually only cast less than 20 feet from the boat. Once the lure reaches bottom I will shake the rod tip/pause... then maybe drag the bait 4" and shake again. Both presentations deffinatly have their time and place!
