Moynagh Rock Jig

Yep.. Roll-er Rock jigs.. or Football jigs. Not a good idea if fishing weeds, but VERY effective for fishing rocks and sand flats out deep.. fish it like you would a carolina rig! Slow sweeps with the rod will have that thing walking on the bottom.. remember sweep, not jig!!!

Thought he was from Carver. Do you use a carolina rod? I have always used the heavier ones with a flippin' stick and 17lb. XT.

Also, have you had luck this year on the deeper rocks? (Minnetonka???)

I know he used to live in Hopkins, if your asking me about the rod I use... a St. croix Avid and about five others....I have not worked tonka's deeper rock area's... if I do it's Diamond reef for Walleyes.

Tonkabass-I will either use a carolina rig rod or I will use a flippin stick..either will work. I have started to have luck on deeper rocks. I was out on South Center today and could not find a shallow bass for nothing.. but a few deep. 12 feet deep or so on rocks, I have yet to drop my boat in on Tonka, but I would expect them to be on the rock there as well, however, you will have to dictate depth by weed edge. South centers weed edge is in about 6 feet right now.. so 12 foot is considered deep... If you were in Wayzetta bay deep would be in 20feet.. while in jennings or so deep may only be 12 again... .
