Boat Scratches

I spent a week fishing on Rainy Lake out of a houseboat. I tied the fishing boat up to the houseboat using boat bumpers over night and one of them got loose. It ended up scratching the dump out of the one side of my boat I was sooooooo mad. I am wondering if there is anything I can do? The boat is a 2003 Alumacraft. The scratch is about 2 feet long and 1-2 inches high. I hope there is something I can do because it looks bad, and I am one of those anal people that like to keep their things nice.

I just hate dock rash. I wish there was an adhesive strip of heavy rubberized plastic that I could apply right along the scratch line, something that would take a little abuse and match the colors of the boat. Even with boat bumpers I still get an occasional scratch. I have no good solution right now, other than to buy a decal of a walleye and paste it over the ding.

Musky-hunter, I have seen simialr products for cars and trucks that are made by 3m and suposed to keep rock chips and other debris from scratching your vehicle. I don't want to post a link but I know I have seen it on cabelas HSOforum in the auto section somewhere. I've never used it because my boat already has a million scratches in it but it might be worth a try. Sorry about the bad boat rash Midnight- I have no real answer for you. Hope you figure something out.

I thought about putting a sticker or two that are fishing related to cover it up (ei. Berkley, Mercury ect.)

If the scratch is through the paint to the point you can see metal youre screwed.If not you might be able to have it buffed back to a shine at a body shop.

We do alot of jobs like that, and most of the time they are covered by insurance. If you'd like us to take a look at it for you, we can at least give you a rough idea what it will take to get it fixed and what your insurance company may do for you.
