warning signal on 94 OMC 40 HP

I have a 40 hp Johnson and when I am trolling, my waring alarm goes off. It is a constant long beep, beep, beep, etc. I have plenty of oil, water comes out great of the tube. I don't know what to check next. Any ideas out there?

Need a new water pump.

The tell tail tube is just an indicator tube before going into the cooling jackets that tells if water is going to the cooling jackets.

Just because water is coming out doesn't mean you're getting a sufficient volume or flow to cool the engine.

The water pump has to work the hardest to pump water while the engine is at idle speeds. This because there is no "force" of water pushing into the system.

I believe you have a highspeed intake water hole on the front of the lower unit housing as well, for added water flow while at planing speeds.

At idle speed, the water pump may not be pumping enough water to keep the engine cool, and the horn is sounding indicating this.

It may seem backwards, but being it is a 94' engine, I am betting it is time for a new water pump!!!

Furthermore, the oil inject systems on these are known to fail at some point, so I would recommend either replacing the system, or better yet, pre-mixing!

I learned from my 96' Johnson that burned down 4th of July weekend 4 years ago.

Thanks for the information, now is there anyone out there that can do the work for me. I called most places and they are a couple of weeks out. I could pick up the parts and bring the boat over. I am in S. St. Paul. 651-226-0977
