BAIT956
I was up there during the week of June 19th. Walleye fishing was very, very slow, and reportedly had been all spring. The smallmouth fishing however, was phenomenal. The best I have ever had for numbers. Almost all the rock points and blowdown timber held fish. We caught fish on nearly everything we tried, but 1/8--3/16 oz. jigs with twister tails were used predominantly. We never used live bait. Most of the locals were using slip bobber and leeches over reefs for walleye with little success. Water was very high after an extemely wet and cold May and early June. Water temp in lower 70's. Madeline and Sun Bowl lakes were also great for smallies. We are thinking about going back in early Sept. Let me know how you do.
Northlander
I will do. I heard that the bite is starting to improve.

Northlander
Fishing was as expected. SLOW! 15 keeper eyes in 6.5 fishing days. Sad part is that I did better than most. Anyone know a good resort for me and my wife to go to? Im thinking Las Soule. I just want a place my wife can catch some walleyes. On another note I did catch some very nice smallies and a couple big Northern. 1 was 42" and another was 38". The 38" T-boned a smallie I was reeling in. Hemlock
Northlander, you might be overlooking the obvious: Lake of the Woods? If you drop me an email, I can at least give you a couple resorts around here....nothing wrong with Lac Seul though.
BAIT956
I'm sure the conspiracy theories are abundant. Where did all the walleyes go? This was once a great walleye lake as little as a couple of years ago.
Northlander
Ya I know I did very well there 3 years ago. Last year was tuff but I still found fish. This year was the hardest fishing I have ever seen in a Canadian Lake.
