Trim gauge adjustment

nthomps66

Question

Is there any way to adjust the trim gauge for my motor?

The problem is this (not really a big problem): When the needle on the gauge shows the motor to be fully "trimmed up" the motor is actually only about 1/4 "up" or so. This renders the gauge almost useless to me.

Or maybe they set the gauge to read "fully up" when the bottom of the prop clears the bottom of the boat and is out of harms way. I don't know...

FYI- I have an '04 Fishhawk with a Yamaha F90.

the part that is not callibrated right is in the hinge part of the outboard. between the part on the transom and the motor itself. there is a screw to adjust this. I forget if the motor needs to be in the up or down position, a simple fix. we had to adjust my buds F150, same deal.

Personally, I have found the instruments on my Crestliner 1850 Fishhawk to be total junk! None of them are anywhere near accurate, when then function at all. Or they will give readings for a while...and then jumpt to something new. But then I don't rely totally on instruments (on boats) anyway. I mean like....who has ever heard of Farsniccin or Farsakshini or whatever their brand name is. Love the boat and the 115 Yam....hate the junk instruments. They are aa pitiful disgrace and Crestliner should be ashamed.

I agree Ufatz. The gauges are not of high quality. My speed gauge is nowhere near accurate and it goes in and out. What's worse is that the speed gauge on my Lowrance is not good either. Sometimes I wonder if the temp is accurate...

I need a GPS and a mercury thermometer on a string...
