archer59
Anyone know what the DMV uses for boat and trailer value for taxation. I still have to do this. Of course will have to wait until everyone is back to work. Thanks, Nick
0 Valv
It uses 6.5% of the price you paid for. You will have to bring a bill of sale or invoice for it.
0 Ole1855
Actually, when I transfered mine last year they just asked me how much the trailer is worth...of course I told them how much it's really worth!!!Ole
0 ChuckN
If you bought the boat used from a private party there is no tax on the boat. They will ask for the value on the trailer and tax you 6.5% of it's value. I have found trailer values in the Kelly Blue Book.
0 BIG DS
The boat itself is not taxed, only the trailer. 6.5% sales tax unless you live in a city where the city has tacked on an addtional sales tax. The deputy registar is able to look up the value of your trailer if you do not know or they feel your are not being honest they can tax you according to the book value of the trailer.
