I've got a Johnson 8 hp short shaft motor for sale, including a mounting plate for mounting as a kicker. I bought this from a guy on FM earlier this year, but I ended up finding a Yamaha longshaft shortly after I bought this one to use as a kicker. The motor runs great - I have hardly used it, and the guy before me said he had only used it a few seasons - it had been in storage before then. This is an 86 - I had thought it was early 90's but was corrected.

I'll sell the motor and gas tank for $425 and the mounting plate for an additional $25.

I have numerous pictures I can send.

I'm 99% positive your boat is set up for a long shaft....But, you could use the mounting plate, which can compensate for the short shaft length. Otherwise, you could use it as the short shaft, but would sacrifice a little boat control. I know people that are using them both ways.

Birdswacker - I forgot to note that the motor is white (with Johnson's black decals).

Also - since I hadn't used the motor for a while,I took it out tonight on my 16' Lund Renegade and did some trolling. Some things I noted - the handling was the same or better than with my Yamaha Long Shaft (I did not expect this at all, and can't explain it) - the long shaft SHOULD handle better given the transom depth. My top speed with the Johnson was 4 mph - my top speed with the Yamaha is 5 mph - only 1 mph difference for a motor almost twice as big. However, I'm sure the long shaft would be better in rough water, as the prop would stay down. If you mounted the mounting plate on your boat, this would be fixed though.

Based on my comparison tonight - I'm actually thinking about keeping the Johnson and selling the Yamaha.............
