#2 and Truex?

Recommended Posts

The latest Jayski rumor is that Truex has been offered enough money to not sign with DEI (yet). My question to you is which ride would you take?

We all know that loyalty only goes so far, and I think Penske is a better team for the long haul.

So what would you do? Jump in the DEI mess and hope it's ok or go to a team that can win races this year?

Why not stay. I dont think DEI is a mess.. Mikey runnin good. Truex is leading in points and Menard just had back to back the best finishes, I think like 3rd and 5th??? I think Jr's team is not cohesive yet, although Tony Sr. was down in the #8 pits last week for the first time HMMMM

Dont believe there is much panic going on. I could be wrong

I would think that Martin will stay with DEI, they have the sponsorships and the name that would help Martin get a good start in Nextel!!! Granted that DEI is not running smoothly as they have I the past, but I think that all in all it would be a good situation for him!!! I would think that it comes down to money and the contract, more than it would with his friendship with Jr, but who knows for sure all we can do is guess at these things!!! "GO DEI"!!!

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING!!!

I would make the jump to the 2. He would only be in the shadow of the 12 and would'nt have to feel like a second fiddle all the time to Jr. I would think with two younger guys at penske they would be a better fit. If they could get newman to run even somewhat good at the end of the race they would be winning alot more. Rusty has been running upfront for the better part of the year and you would think with the way Newman has been on just about every pole the result's would be different for them this year.

Short term the DEI team sounds good with the extra endorsment money. However, I see DEI as the next petty enterprises. If your thinking long term the #2 car is better. Also, MTjr has already made a name for himself and is well recognized. He made the All Star race as a part timer.

He made the All Star on the coat tails of the Jr. Nation.

I do believe if the #2 wasn't an option, he would have signed by now. The talk of Jr. jumping ship and driving the #3 for RCR has to worry Martin also.

Either way who ever take the reigns of the #2 & #6 are going to be expected to run upfront.

Outdoornut

I agree 100% on the All Star race...association w/ Jr., that's all it took.

As for Truex, one thing I'd ask myself, or look at anyway, is how much are they helping each other out, communicating, etc.? Look at Roush and Hendrick...they're all about communication. Also, look at the plate races. Even though there are only what, 4 of them, there still is a lot of points to be made at those tracks, and how much has Dale Jr. helped the 15 out at these tracks??? Not much if you ask me. And I wouldn't think he'd help out a young buck like Truex either. Sure, maybe in the Busch races, but that means nothing to Dale Jr. It's the cup that matters and when it comes to that, he doesn't seem to help his teammates out as much as his teammates help him out.

Just my observation, may not necessarily be correct or true.

I disagree....association w/SR is all it took.

I don't think he deserved to be in the race, but my point was enough people know who he is that he was voted in. Much like PERCH JR now cheers for the #20 because he and JR are buddy buddy on the restricter tracks. Many Dei fans will still have a liking for Truex (if he is successful) because they will claim him be a product of the great DEI machine!!!

EXCUSE me??? How would you know who my drivers are??? I have always liked Stewart, I like the way he says things about CASHCAR, instead of the other girls out there who don't have a set of you know what, to say anything to anybody!!! He is a very good and of course aggressive driver unlike some of the so called girls out on the track now days!!! I guess that would explain why I was a diehard Sr. fan, because he was aggressive like Stewart is, sure I agree that he was a little agressive at times but thats what they call racing, RIGHT??? Let me take a wild guess, you joined the Hendrick bandwagon years ago, and lord knows they aren't over aggressive??? grin.gif

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING!!!

I just like hendrick because they never admit to causing crashes. The guys that admit it they really p me off.

Maybe because you pick the same 3 cars every week no matter what race track they are on. It really shows narrow-mindedness in my opinion. Because, everyone knows certain drivers do better at different types of tracks. I really could care less who you like, but once in a while you may just want to appreciate some of the other teams and how hard they work. Its called Nascar or Cashcar if you prefer, but its not the

Outdoornut, you made mention of Jr going over to RCR and driving the #3. I have heard that also and think that would be the worst thing Jr. could do. All he could do is tarnish the 3. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT a big E fan. Jr. can't make it better, only worse.

IMO when the number 3 gets used again (and it should) it should be by some other team.

baahahaha..You said a mouthful there! I'm assuming you're being sarcastic, because that's totally opposite of what they do!

If the #3 gets used again, it better be kept in the Earnhardt family. Otherwise it can be kept where it is right now.....off limits.

Personally I think Jr. wants to go to RCR and get away from the mess that his step mother is causing. They need a leader at that shop. She may be good with the business aspect, but not running a race team. A RCR/DEI merger would be interesting! One can always dream I guess.

Yep, this question has been answered. Will be interesting to watch how everything turns out, and if DEI improves with another driver to communicate with. Truex seems to be more in tune with the tri-ovals than Jr. and perhaps Mikey...will be interesting to see if he has any help to offer on those types of tracks, or, if the problem is bigger than what Truex can offer.

Glad to see that he'll be running cup next year. He's one that should be IMO.

Say Jr. does go to RCR and run the #3. He'll run like the rest of the RCR cars. Middle of the pack for the last few years. Say this happens for 5 years, maybe one or two wins but mostly average runs. How's that going to make the #3 look? Well maybe he should run it, then it will become just another number. Maybe they should give it to Kerry, cuz we all know he's the next Jeff Gordon waiting to happen! wink.gif

Truex for 3 years grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

DJr is signed till 2007, so its probably pointless to speculate. If anything he is going to get more control at DEI in the future. No panic, no mess I would bet now that they will re-sign Mikey and Tony Jr.

An RCR/DEI merger is the best thing that could happen to DEI.

RCR has shown that they can overcome problems and win races/championships. Of course, having Sr as a driver didn't hurt, but it's not just the driver, it's the whole team. That, my friends, is a concept that DEI needs to learn or they're done forever.
