Walleye Rueben
I'm heading to Ontario (Perrault Lake) in two weeks. Since we can't bring leeches across the border anymore, what is the availability of leeches in Vermillion Bay to Lac Seul corridor (hwy 105). I was told this spring that the Canadian leech production may not be ready to support the demand for a few years.I usually buy a pound per boat to last the week. backlash 1
Just came back from Lac Suel (Souix Lookout end), and had no problem getting leaches. One sugestion though, think about taking along some Berkely bunge power leaches. We experimented with them up there last week, and found no diference than live leaches. As a mater of fact, my wife also caught and released a bonus 41" pike on a 1/16 oz jig with a power leach!!! We are having a replica made of it. Also had excellent sucess with salted and borax minnows, and other plastics as well. Good luck!
WB make the CUT
Just got back also we had no problem with leeches in the Fort Francis area, I tried this year the Lindy Munchies in the 4" grub, Pumpkinseed and Orange Yellow were simply unreal, I ran a whistler jig ahead of them and just kept poppin....nice to see the advancement on plastics
Long Gray Line
You might just want to save some money and get crawlers here, pack them in bedding and take them up. We just got back from a fly in and there was no difference (other than durability on the hook) between using a leech or 1/2 a crawler on a jig w/ a twister tail. Best colors were white, chartreuse and orange.
