Finally went and fished some open water this past week!

A vendor invited me up to LOW to their cabin, on an island just south of sioux narrows. Spent 5 days and 4 nights there, with 3 days of guided fishing. 1st day, we hit the walleyes somewhere in the northern part of the lake, about 35 miles on water. It was a bit rainy and windy, which made it hard to stay on top of the reefs, but we did manage to catch a few nice eyes. My biggest was only 18.5 inches or so, the biggest in the group was 24". While fishing on this one reef, the storm was really come up, so we decided to head out to some bay and fish. This was not nearly as active.. After lunch we decided to hit the reefs again. This time the storm was gone, but the air was really electric. Our pole tips would snap and the lines would just float up in the air, really freaky!

The next day we did a bit of trout fishing in the morning.. 3 boats down-rigging.. The bite was a bit slow, I think in the couple of hours we fished, we pulled up 5 trout between all the boats. After that we went to do some Northern fishing. On the first cast, one of the guys pulled in his first muskie, a 37-38". Not huge, but I wouldnt complain if I caught it. While fishing this one spot, some lodge boats came in and fished right next to us. I can see why they would, I mean.. there's not too many spots on the lake to fish. smirk.gif I ended up pulling up a 24" pike as my largest, the largest for the trip was about 31" or so.

The last day we tried for some small mouth and more northern fishing. While fishing for small mouth, I didnt catch any, but I did catch a nice ol' moccasin shoe. =)

Anyways, it was an absolute blast up there, and I now have something to say on the open water forum. cool.gif

Kylersk, you must have passed my place at least a couple times. Good job on the fishing. Nice up here, eh? wink.gif

Glad to hear you had a successful (Contact US Regarding This Word) fishing trip and that you had fun.

Yup, that's him. No, we stayed at the companie (that invited me up) cabin on Annie Island. He's a great guy. He's been guiding for them for 21 years now. I thought about mentioning it, but If I recall you were at a wedding or something. We went up there from saturday and came back on wednesday.

Nice. Do you know any island names where you walleye fished? Did you pass a yellow rock with a smiley face on it? That's Yellowgirl Point, and I'm guessing you went past that to get into the eyes.
