BarryG
I'd go with a deep v, get the max on the motor! The Deep V will handle rough water in all parts of the country and you will get rough water in all parts of the country! And you'll fit right in when you move back North again!! Willy
A six foot wave is a lot bigger than you think. If you have 6 foot waves I can guarantee you you'd never drive wide open in a bass boat let alone any boat.
Tom Linderholm
Also a word from the wise, or recently experienced. If you are going to be out in rough water I would go with the Aluminum. I recently smoked a deadhead doing 20+ in a rough wake behind a commercial trawler in Duluth. Had it been a fiberglass it probably wouldn't of made it to the landing. Them no seums will getcha, but the aluminum won't. Deep V is my bet if you plan on the rough stuff. otherwise if you are pitchin shore lines or on small water most of the time go with the fiberglass cadilacs. HaleDamage
One of the thing to look at is the "dealer".. (thats if you buy from a dealer) They can make or brake your boating fun.. Check out the dealer -- It is as important as the boat you buy TX has some huge lakes with some huge bucket mouth bass. These lakes can get some good size water when the wind kicks up.-- Check out the Tracker Tundra. And "all-ya-all" need to learn to talk TX and chew tobacco to fit in . TSCTSC
If you are going to be down South for 3-5 years, I think that it is reasonable enough to just go ahead and buy the boat that you will need for that time down south. In that case, you will be sure you are not compromising on your fishing for the next 3-5 years. Who knows, you might not even come back to Minnesota. But if you do in 3-5 years, you will still be able to use ur bass boat and fish, and if you find that it is still not suitable, you can come back into the market and get a Deep V like Lund or Crestliner. That is what I would do. I would not really want to compromise for my next 3-5 years down South.
Doop
Wow....thanks for the input guys! Many things to think about. My wife and I just had a baby boy so funds are tight right now. I may have to wait a couple years to get the boat....I would love nothing more than to get a boat to fish out of down here....and sell it when I move back north....I just don't want to be upside down when trying to get rid of a bass boat. After moving down here....fishing and definitely bowhunting has taken a backseat....lol...I don't even bowhunt anymore. I refuse to hunt deer in this state. So I guess i'm used to having my fishing/hunting compromised. I don't like it....but it's a sacrifice. I may just save my minnows for a nice deep V when we move back north.
